Look Up Child

My heart goes out to the suffering. This world is full of people facing physical battles, emotional despairs, financial struggles. And only a fraction of them know that we have an ultimate comforter.

Someone I love is battling depression. Someone I love is battling anxiety. Someone I love is battling sickness. Someone I love is battling pain. Someone I love is battling cancer. Someone I love is facing grief.

David was a man after God’s own heart. He wrote the Psalms. He faced battles that we face still today. And he shows us that we can feel forgotten, but still holds strong to his faith.

Psalm 22:1-2

My God, my God, why have you forsaken me? Why are you so far from saving me, from the words of my groaning? 2 O my God, I cry by day, but you do not answer, and by night, but I find no rest.

God is our ultimate comforter

Psalm 119:76 ESV

Let your steadfast love comfort me according to your promise to your servant.

Matthew 5:4 ESV

“Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.

I have known the valley, I have faced loss, I have faced depression and anxiety on an almost daily basis. My emotional struggles have been amplified by physical struggles. I have faced daily bouts of physical pain, constant nausea and physical illness.

Lauren Daigle sings the song look up child lyrics reminiscent of the Psalms.

Where are You now

When darkness seems to win?

Where are You now

When the world is crumbling?

Where are You now (Where are You?)

When all I feel is doubt?

Oh, where are You now

When I can’t figure it out?…

Take heart God is with us

Psalm 34:18 ESV

The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.

Psalm 23:4 ESV

Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

Take heart we walk THROUGH the valley. There will be an end to the suffering.

Psalm 119:50 ESV

This is my comfort in my affliction, that your promise gives me life.

Take heart friend. This too shall pass.
